Unannounced Compliance Inspection
Unannounced compliance inspections are conducted without prior notice to assess an institution’s ongoing compliance with all laws and regulations governing private postsecondary education.
Prior to and during the on-site inspection, a Bureau compliance analyst may review a wide range of materials including enrollment agreements, catalogs, marketing materials, and documentation related to Student Tuition Recovery Fund and School Performance Fact Sheets reporting requirements. Compliance Analysts also examine faculty and student files, observe daily operations, and verify that the institution is maintaining compliance in real-time. The inspection is not limited to specific items—any materials deemed necessary to evaluate institutional compliance may be requested.
Because they are unannounced, these inspections are designed to assess the school’s readiness and adherence to regulatory standards at any given time, promoting accountability and ongoing operational integrity.
